Thattayil Orippurathu Bhagavathy Temple - Festival - Information

Thattayil Orippurathu Bhagavathy temple is located around 8 km west of Pandalam in Kerala. The main annual festival in Thattayil Orippurathu Bhagavathy Temple is observed on the Bharani nakshatra in Meenam month. 

Kettukazhcha, theru and kuthira are part of the annul Meena Bharani festival.

Thookam is another important ritual held during the annual festival and is held on the Karthika nakshatra day - the day after Meena Bharani. Thiruvathira is another important festival day.

The main murti worshipped in the temple is Goddess Bhadrakali. The shila vigraham is nearly 5 feet tall and faces north.

The Upa Devatas worshipped in the temple are Ganapathy, Sri Krishna, Madanswami, Rakshas and Yogeeswaran. Importance is given to Ganapathy. Nagaraja and Nagayakshi are worshiped in the grove or kavu on the west side of the sanctum sanctorum.

The temple is managed by 12 karas of the area.

The annual prathishta dinam is held in Makaram month.

On the first day of Thulam 1 a unique ritual known as urul vazhipadu is observed in the temple.
