Shanghumugham Devi Temple Information - Festival

Shanghumugham Devi temple is located at Shankumugham Beach in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. The 10-day annual festival in Shanghumugham Devi temple is observed in such a manner that the Pallivetta takes place on Bharani nakshatra in Meenam month.

The temple is dedicated to Goddess Durga who faces east. The temple is one among the 108 Durga temples in Kerala. It is believed that the temple Azhiyoor mentioned in the Durga kshetra stotra namavali is this. The murti worshipped in the temple was consecrated by Parashurama.

Pallivetta, Pongala and Arattu rituals are part of the festival.

There are no Upa Devatas in the temple.

It is believed that the temple belonged to Kuvakkarapotti who was part of the Ettara Yogam in Travancore kingdom.
