Udayamangalam Mahavishnu Temple - Story - Festival - Upa Devatas

Udayamangalam Mahavishnu temple is located at Uduma on the Chandragiri – Kasaragod road in Kasaragod district, Kerala. The main festival of the temple begins on the Vishu day and lasts for 7 days.

The belief is that Hanuman who was traveling from Kashi with Salagram reached the spot where the present day temple is located. When he reached the place sunrise happened and therefore Hanuman decided to install the Salagram here.

The present temple is located around 1.5 kilometer from the original temple associated with Hanuman.

The main deity is Mahavishnu and he faces east. The upa devatas in the temple are Ganapathy, Ayyappa, Hanuman and Mahalakshmi.
