Pattanakkad Mahadeva Temple - About - Gods Worshipped - Festival

Pattanakkad Mahadeva Temple is located on the Cherthala – Ernakulam road at Pattanakkad village. The annual temple festival in the shrine is observed for 8 days in such a way that the festival ends with Arattu on the Mahashivratri day in Kumbham month.

The Arattu is observed on the 4th pada or the last quarter of Amavasya day. So the festival might extend to the 9th day.

It is believed that this shrine is one among the 108 Shiva temples in Kerala.

The murti worshipped in the temple is swayambhu and is the Kirata Murti form of Shiva. The deity faces east.

The upa devatas in the temple are Subrahmanya, Ganapathy, Sastha, Nagas, Bhagavathy and Rakshas.

The temple originally belonged to the Anakottil Kartas.
