Mahayoga in Hindu Astrology

Mahayoga is an important element in Hindu astrology. It is the 28 combinations of the house lords in the horoscope of a person. The exchange of the lords of the second, fourth, fifth, seventh, ninth, and eleventh houses in the horoscope of a native gives rise to 28 combinations called mahayoga.

The Mahayoga as are as follows: 
  • Exchange of the lord of ascendant with the lord of second, fourth, fifth, seventh, ninth, tenth and eleventh houses gives rise to seven combinations. 
  • Exchange of the lord of the second house with that of the fourth, fifth, seventh, ninth, tenth and eleventh houses gives rise to six combinations. 
  • Exchange of the lord of the fourth house with that of the fifth, seventh, ninth, tenth and eleventh houses gives rise to five combinations. 
  • Exchange of the lord of the fifth house with that of the seventh, ninth, tenth and eleventh houses gives rise to four combinations. 
  • Exchange of the lord of the seventh house with that of the ninth, tenth and eleventh houses gives rise to three combinations. 
  • Exchange of the lord of the ninth house with that of the tenth and eleventh houses gives rise to two combinations. 
  • Exchange of the lord of the tenth house with that of the eleventh houses gives rise to one combination. 
According to Hindu astrology, the native whose horoscope shows such mahayoga will be blessed with wealth, various comforts in life and many worth children. Each exchange in the horoscope indicates a specific comfort.

For example, the exchange of the Lord of the fourth house with that of the seventh house brings landed property and affection from the wife or husband.
