Karuvanthala Temple - About Festival – Pooram Festival Karuvanthala Bhagavathy Temple

Karuvanthala Temple is located near Enamavu (Enamakkal) in Thrissur District, Kerala. The main festival in the temple, also known as Karuvanthala Bhagavathy temple pooram, is observed on the Bharani nakshatra in Kumbham Month (Kumbha Bharani).

The highlight of the festival is the 'Kuthira Kali' performed by the Mannan community. The temple also organizes elephant pageantry and procession accompanied by panchavadyam.

Karuvanthala Bhagavathy temple is dedicated to Goddess Bhadrakali. The deity faces west and is referred to as Jala Drishti.

Veerabhadra and Hanuman are the main upa devatas.

The temple belongs to Kanippayyur Mana. The temple is governed by the mana and by a committee of villagers.

The annual festival is famous for caparisoned elephants and ezhunnallathu.
