Kushmanda Devi is one among the nine goddess worshipped during Navratri. She is worshipped on the fourth day of Navratri. Maa Kushmanda is worshipped for achieving success in job related matters. She also helps in achieving desire fulfillment (Kama). Below is Goddess Kushmanda Devi Puja vidhi or procedure along with mantra. This is a simple guide on how to perform Maa Kushmanda Devi Puja and is ideal for performing it at home.

When to Perform Goddess Kushmanda Devi Puja?

The ideal day to perform the puja:
  • Fourth day of Navratri – Chaturthi Tithi
  • Chaturthi Tithi – the fourth day after Amavasya in a Hindu lunar month.
She has control over Surya Navgraha. Worship of her will help in overcoming Surya Navgraha related problems in horoscope.

Simple Goddess Kushmanda Puja Vidhi

  • The puja should be performed early morning during sunrise
  • The murti (picture, photo or painting) of Goddess Kushmanda should be placed on the east side of the house on a red color cloth.
  • The puja should be performed facing east.
  • The person performing puja should wear red color clothes.
  • Take a kalash fill it with water and put a red chandan and red color flowers in it. Close the kalash with a coconut. Keep this near the picture or sculpture or painting of Kushmanda.
  • The lamp should be lit using pure cow ghee. One wick is preferred. Lamp made of bronze is preferred.
  • Dhoop should be of chandan.
  • Red color flowers should be offered.
  • Offer uncooked rice.
  • Offer bilva patra.
  • Offer red sandal wood paste.
  • Offer apple.
  • Offer a coin.
  • Offer pumpkin
  • Prepare food using Rawa or Pumpkin. The best food offered is Suji Ka Halwa. Another option is pumpkin halwa using jaggery. This should be consumed after puja by family members and relatives.
  • The mantra  कूष्माण्डायै देव्यै: नमः should be chanted 108 times. The count should be kept on a rudraksha mala.
  • The water in the kalash should be deposited under a peepal tree.

Special Pujas

  • For getting job, keep the coin offered to Goddess in the purse.
  • Those couples facing difficulty in having children should offer Kadu (pumkin) to Goddess. Later it should be kept near the stomach. It should be then given to a cow.
  • Donating nutmeg (Jayphal) will help in solving career related problems.
