Bhuvaneshwari Devi is the fourth form of Mother Goddess Shakti among the Dasa Mahavidyas. She is worshipped for auspiciousness (aishwaryam), desire fulfillment and for overcoming lethargy. When to Perform Goddess Bhuvaneshwari Devi Puja?

The ideal day to perform the puja:
  • Dasami Tithi – the tenth day of the waning or waxing phase of moon. Tenth day after full moon (purnima) or no moon day (Amavasya).
  • Another option is when there is Uttara Shada or Uthiradam Nakshatra in a lunar month.
  • The puja becomes doubly auspicious when there is a combination of Uttara Shada or Uthiradam and Dasami Tithi.
This form of Goddess is also associated with Tantra Vidya.

Benefits of Performing Bhuvaneshwari Puja

  • As per Bhavishya Purana and Durga Kalpam, those performing the puja will be blessed with auspiciousness. The puja is also performed to overcome lethargy, lack of interest and laziness.
  • Desire fulfillment.
  • It is performed for getting better yield from farmland.

Simple Goddess Bhuvaneshwari Puja Vidhi

  • The puja should be performed early morning after sunrise or during the pradosh period (1.5 hours before sunset).
  • The murti (picture, photo or painting) of Goddess Bhuvaneshwari should be placed on the southeast corner of the house on a white color cloth.
  • The puja should be performed facing southeast.
  • The person performing puja should wear white color clothes.
  • Take a kalash fill it with water and put some sugar in it. Close the kalash with a coconut. Keep this near the picture or sculpture or painting of Bhuvaneshwari.
  • The lamp should be lit using pure cow ghee. One wick is preferred.
  • Dhoop should be of camphor or karpur.
  • White color flowers should be offered.
  • Offer uncooked rice.
  • Offer white sandalwood paste.
  • Offer fragrance like ithar or other fragrant waters.
  • Offer milk and pure honey.
  • Prepare food using Mawa. It should be later with family members and a married woman.
  • The mantra  श्रीभुवनेश्वर्यै नमः should be chanted 108 times. The count should be kept on any mala.
  • The water and sugar in the kalash should be deposited under a peepal tree.
