 Sugar is offered to Shivling by devotees for desire fulfillment. Usually, abhishek with sugar on Shivling is performed on Monday, Shiv Chaturdashi, Pradosh day or during Maha Shivratri. How to Perform Sugar Shivling Abhishek?

  • The abhishek with sugar on Shivling can be performed at home or in a temple.
  • Take bath and wear white color clothes.
  • Perform the puja facing north.
  • Offer prayers to Ganesha in the mind. Take the blessings of Goddess Parvati.
  • Light a lamp using pure cow ghee with one wick.
  • Offer water to the shivling.
  • Offer bilva leaves.
  • Offer white color flowers.
  • Next, perform abhishek of Shivling with sugar. For small shivling use a small amount of sugar.
  • Sit in meditation and chant ‘Om Namah Shivaya’ 108 times. You can keep count on a Rudraksha mala.
  • After the puja, collect all the sugar – put some in spots where ants are found. The rest can be given to a cow or ox.
  • Bilva leaves and flowers should be kept under a bilva tree.
