Satyavinayak Pooja Vidhi with Mantra – How to Perform Satyavinayak Puja?


Satyavinayak Pooja is performed for achieving peace and prosperity in life and is dedicated to Lord Ganesha. The greatness of Satyavinayak Puja was narrated by Bhagavan Sri Krishna to his friend Kuchela. Below is Satyavinayak pooja vidhi or procedure along with mantra. This is a simple guide on how to perform Satyavinayak Puja and is ideal for performing it at home.

It is believed that Sudama (Kuchela) was able to get rid of his poverty, and achieve peace and prosperity after following the Satyavinayak puja narrated by Sri Krishna to him.

When to Perform Satyavinayak Pooja?

The ideal day to perform the puja:

  • Full moon day in a month – Purnima tithi
  • Performing the puja on Vaishakh Purnima is considered highly meritorious.
  • Today the puja is performed any auspicious day in a month for the welfare of the family.

Begin the puja by Chanting the following mantra:

  • The puja is to be performed early morning or in the evening.
  • After taking bath, wear white color dress.
  • Offer prayers to Ganesha in the mind.
  • Take a steel Kalash fill it with water. Cover the mouth of kalash with coconut and mango leaves. Make dot using chandan and kumkum on the kalash.
  • Keep the Kalash on the north side of the house on a white color cloth. The puja is to be performed facing north.
  • Light lamp using pure cow ghee mixed with kesar (saffron).
  • Light karpur or camphor.
  • Offer white color flowers.
  • Offer white sandalwood paste (chandan).
  • Offer uncooked rice.
  • Offer ithar (fragrance or perfume) of sandalwood.
  • Offer honey and milk in small amounts
  • Offer sweet made khoya or mava as Prasad or bhog. After puja, share it with the family members.
  • Chant the mantra Om Satyavinayakaya Namah 108 times. Keep count on a white sandalwood mala.
  • The water in the kalash should be deposited under a peepal tree after puja.
  • Coconut can be used for making a sweet preparation.
  • To overcome poverty and financial problems, offer five bottles of honey to Satyavinayak during puja. Later donate it to poor children.
