Akka Mahadevi Caves is located in the Nallamala forest
upstream of the Krishna River. The caves are accessed via boats. The awesome

The boat timings is decided as per the number of devotees. You need to reach the rope way early morning and book tickets. When there are a total of 20 devotees the boat start the trip.

Akka Mahadevi Caves History
The Nallamala Hills boast of innumerable natural caves and
caverns. Located upstream of the Krishna River, the natural rock arch or sila
thoranam at the entrance stands out.
Akka Mahadevi, 12th century, saint known for
popular vachanas on Shiva, worshipped the self-emanated linga in the
labyrinthine maze of the caves.
Murtis of Kapala Bhairava, Veerabhadra, Mahishasura Mardini
and many other of medieval period are found at the entrance of Akka Mahadevi caves.
How To Reach Akka Mahadevi Caves From Srisailam?
- Akka Mahadevi Caves is around 12 kms away from Srisailam Mallikarjuna Swamy temple.
- You need to collect ticket from rope way near temple to visit the caves and this is absolutely necessary.
- The most easy and appropriate way to reach the beautiful caves is first to take the rope way journey from Nallamala Hill top beside the Srisailam Mallikarjuna temple to Pathala Ganga.
- From Pathala Ganga you can take a motor boat on Krishna River to reach the nearest spot to the caves. From the spot it is a 10 minute trek.
- It takes about 5 hours to go and return back from the cave.
- You need to carry dry fruits, food items and drinking water.
- You need to carry torch or candles as the Shivling is located inside the pitch dark cave.
- The cost per person is around Rs 400/-
