Mansa Devi Temple, Haridwar is located atop the Bilwa Mountain in the Shivalik Hills in Haridwar. The temple is dedicated to Goddess Mansa, an incarnation of Goddess Shakti.

7:00 AM to 9:00 PM.

The temple is open from 5AM to 9PM.

Morning Darshan Timings

5:00 AM to 12:00 PM

Afternoon and Evening Darshan Timings

The temple is located near the famous Chandi Devi Temple. The temple is  around 4 km from Har ki Pauri and is a 3 km arduous trek from Chandi Ghat. Most devotees make us of the ropeway (Mansa Devi Udan Khatola), which starts near the Gauri Shankar Temple.

Mansa Devi Temple is counted among the Panch Tirth and is also a Siddh Peeth in Haridwar. It is believed Mansa Devi is a wish fulfilling deity.

The sanctum sanctorum of the temple has two murtis – one is an eight armed form of Goddess Mansa. Another murti is three-headed with five arms.

  • Goddess Mansa is one among the numerous manifestations of Shakti.
  • As per some accounts she is the mind born daughter of Shiva.
  • Another legend has it that She is the daughter of Serpent Vasuki.
  • Another belief is that when Shiva appeared in a human form on earth, Mansa was his daughter.
  • In Kali Yuga (the present age), people believe that Goddess Mansa is a wish fulfilling deity. This is because her name ‘Mansa’ means wish.

Popular Story Of Goddess Mansa Of Haridwar

It is believed that once a girl wanted to know about the hidden truth of Universe. To understand the Supreme Truth, she offered penance to Lord Shiva.

It is said that pleased with her unwavering devotion and determination, Shiva appeared before her and narrated to her the knowledge of Supreme Truth.

Shiva also told her that from then onwards she will have the power to provide welfare to the living beings on earth.


From that day onwards, the girl became Goddess Mansa and she protects and fulfills the desires of devotees who follow Dharma.

Unique Tree and Tying Of Thread In Haridwar Mansa Devi Temple

People arrive at the temple and pray for their wishes to be fulfilled. Then devotees tie thread a tree outside the temple. Once the wishes are fulfilled, devotee returns to untie the thread and to offer prayers.
