Veeralakshmi is a manifestation of Goddess Lakshmi. She is the Goddess who provides strength to face enemies. There are many texts that identify Goddess Vaishno Devi with Veera Lakshmi. This form is also counted among one of the Ashta Lakshmis in some regions.

Veera Lakshmi is associated with valour and she is also the wealth of courage. She along with Vijaya Lakshmi were propitiated by kings and other rulers for victory in battle.

She is also the goddess of power. In some regions, she is also known as Dhairya Lakshmi as she provides the courage to human beings to perform impossible acts.

The murti form of Vira Lakshmi is quite similar to Goddess Durga. She rides a lion holds various arms like Trishul, sword and mace. In some images she is eight-armed with Trident, Sphere, Conch, Chakra, Bow, Bowl or lotus and Abhaya and Varada hand posture.

The offerings to Goddess Veeralakshmi are pure vegetarian food items. She is never offered non vegetarian food items.

The most popular story of Goddess Vira Lakshmi has Her fighting a sorcerer Bhairo, who attempted to molest her. This story symbolically suggests the need for women to be physically strong and to fight back when she is attacked.
