Goddess Nilakanthi is one among the numerous manifestations
of Goddess Durga. She is counted one among the nine durgas in the Agamas.
Goddess Nilakanthi is the bestower of wealth and happiness to her devotees.
Goddess Nilakanthi is depicted as having four arms. She
holds trishul, khetaka and a drinking vessel. One of her hands is in Varada
pose.
There are no known temples where Goddess Nilakanthi is
exclusively worshipped. She is worshipped as subsidiary deity in temples in South India .
It is also difficult to recognize Her Murti as
she is considered as Durga in many temples. The name Nilakanthi will not be
mentioned near the murti.
