Vishalakshi Puja Vidhi – Procedure – With Mantra – How To Perform Visalakshi Puja?

Goddess Vishalakshi is a powerful form of Mother Goddess Shakti and she is worshipped in the Shaktipeetah near Varanasi. Below is Maa Vishalakshi puja vidhi or procedure along with mantra. This is a simple guide on how to perform Visalakshi Puja and is ideal for performing it at home.

When to Perform Vishalakshi Puja?

Ideal day to perform the puja:
Shukla Paksha Tritiya Tithi – third day during the light or waxing phase of moon.
When there is Purvashada or Pooradam nakshatram in a month.
It is doubly auspicious when there is Purava shada Nakshatra on Shukla Paksha Tritiya Tithi.

People performing the puja will have wishes fulfilled especially related to costly ornaments.

Simple Vishalakshi Puja Vidhi

  • The puja should be performed early morning after sunrise or during pradosh period (1.5 hours before sunset).
  • The murti (picture, photo or painting) of Goddess Vishalakshi should be in the form of a young girl. She is very beautiful with a skin tone like gold. She wears a garland of skull and should be wearing red color clothes.
  • Lamp should be lit using coconut oil.
  • Red shoe flower should be offered.
  • Dhoop should be of fragrant flower.
  • Tilak should be of Gorochan.
  • Mehandi should be offered.
  • Palak leaves (spinach) should be offered.
  • Soak moong dal overnight and mix it with Mishri (kalkanda or rock sugar) and it should be offered to the Goddess as Food or bhog. This bhog or Prasad should be later shared with a cow.
  • The mantra  षोडशस्वररूपिण्यै नमः should be chanted 108 times.

Special Pujas

  • To overcome financial problems chant the mantra महाकुण्डलिन्यै नमः॥ 108 times and then donate some money to a poor person.
  • Offer 11 sabut supari to Mother Goddess Vishalakshi and then keep it in locker where you keep money.
  • To keep away evil eye, circle palak leaves around the head and then feed it to a cow.
