Sade-Sati is the 7.5 years period of Shani Navgraha in the Janam Kundli or horoscope of a person. This astrological phase associated with Shani (Saturn) is feared by those people who believe in Hindu astrology. According to those beliefs, this is a highly inauspicious period and there will be bad luck and numerous other negativities in life.
- Worship of Hanuman on all days and especially on Saturdays.
- Light lamp on the day with sesame oil (til ka tel).
- It is meritorious to offer prayers to both Shani and Hanuman together on Saturday.
- Offer peepal leaves to Hanuman and Shani.
- Ghoogal (गुग्गल ) should be used to do dhoop.
- Mix black whole urad dal with sindhoor and offer it to Hanuman and Shani.
- The bhog offered to the deities should be Imarti (इमारती). A famous sweet maade with Urad dal and looks similar to jelabi but is orange in color.
- The bhog prepared on the day should be shared with a black cow.
- ॐ रुद्रकर्मणे नमः॥ - (Om Rudrakarmane Namah) the mantra should be chanted 108 times.
- Make roti (chapathi) filled with jaggery and feed it to a cow.
- Mix sesame oil and sindhoor and offer it to Shani Bhagavan.
- Offer 13 कागजी बादाम (almonds with shell) to Hanuman on Tuesday or Saturday.
