Why Rest is Equally Important as Work? - 10 Thoughts on Rest

  1. There should be enough sleep and rest during a day. It should not be less or more. Both overindulgence and deprivation are harmful.
  2. Night is for sleeping and day is for working.
  3. Rest is a gift after a great labor not for sloth.
  4. The hours of sleep needed varies from person to person. One needs to find out the exact time needed for recuperation.
  5. Going to bed early and getting up early should be the mantra. The best time to do important works, study, write…etc is early morning hours.
  6. Those who sleep daily for more than eight hours should attempt to reduce it. The easiest way is to reduce it by minutes. Wake up 5 minute early daily and soon you will be able to adjust the number of hours.
  7. During daytime, take small breaks as this will energize you. Drink lots of water during the breaks. Take short walks. Take your mind away from the job that you were doing. When you return back, the job will become easy and smooth.
  8. If you are feeling unusually tired and low energy levels during daytime, then it is a symptom of illness. Get yourself checked.
  9. Rest is not a sin or crime. However, sloth and slugging are a sin and crime as it opens the gates of self-destruction and unhappiness.
  10. Find a perfect balance between labor and rest for a good health, happiness, prosperity and for a good family and social life.
