Rules for the number of strokes of bells in Hindu temples
and homes are well established. In Hinduism, one stroke of bell indicates
moksha or salvation.
Two strokes suggest enjoyment.
Three strokes suggest achievement of desires.
When incense is offered, lamps are waved, and food is
offered, there must be two strokes.
If lamp alone is waved there must be only one stroke.
Three strokes are required during the propitiation of gods
and goddesses.
