Story of Swarnajaleshwar Mahadev form of Shiva in Ujjain
Agni had a son named Suvarna. But this powerful child became the reason for conflict between Devas and Asuras. Asuras wanted to have the child. Devas too wanted him.

Thousands of demigods and demons perished in the battle.

This angered Shiva who cursed Suvarna to lose his luster and to become like iron.

Agni then approached Shiva and told him that Suvarna was his son. The semen that fell from Shiva after Kamdev aroused him was carried by Agni to Ganga and later it was taken care Krittika stars.

The semen resulted in the birth of Kartik or Subrahmanya.

Agni got Suvarna as the result of this incident.

Shiva then asked Suvarana to go to Mahakaal Vana and offer prayers to a Shivling located south of Karkoteshwar Mahadev.

Suvarna performed penance as told by Shiva. He got back is luster and human form.

The Shivling to which Suvarna offered prayers came to be known as Swarnajaleshwar Mahadev.
