Satyanarayan Puja and Vrat is performed for prosperity and
auspiciousness. Legend has it that a trader named Sadhu Vani came to know about
the greatness of Satyanarayan Vrat. He promised to perform the Vrata at the
time of the marriage of his daughter Kalavati.
But during the marriage of his daughter, the trader forgot
to worship Satyanarayan.
As a result the trader incurred the curse of the deity and
he suffered terribly.
He incurred huge loss in his business. He was also put in
prison on charges of theft.
Later, the trader’s daughter, Kalavati, and his wife,
Lilavati, performed Satyanarayana Puja and Vrata.
The trader was freed from the prison and he got all his lost wealth back.
