Jagamohana Ramayana is the Odia (Oriya) version of Ramayana
and it was composed by Balarama Dasa. It was composed during the 16th
century in Odisha (Orissa). The text is known as Jagamohana because Balarama
Dasa was inspired by Lord Jagannath of Puri to write the text. Jagamohana is
one among the numerous names of lord Jagannath.
The text is also referred as Mahanataka or Daskhini Ramayana
by some communities in Orissa.
It is also one of the earliest attempts to translate Sanskrit
Ramayana into a regional language in India.
