Surya, or Sun God, on the island. But it was destroyed by invaders who came
from west. Kaliadeh Palace is situated around 8 km from Ujjain Railway Station.
Remains of the old temple are scattered on the island. The temple was later converted into a palace.

The central dome of the palace is a beautiful example of
Persian architecture.
The palace was broken down during the 18th
century by treasure hunters and thugs. It was restored by Madhav Rao Scindia in
1920.
Currently the Sun Temple is located at the center of the palace.
