Ekvira Palkhi is annually observed in Chaitra Month. It is
held during the Chaitra Navratri period. This unique ritual is referred as
Ekvira Devi Palkhi Sohala. It attracts thousands of devotees to the temple
located at Karla in Lonavala in Pune District of Maharashtra. Ekvira Devi Palkhi
2024 date is April 15.
The utsava murti of Ekvira Devi worshipped in the shrine is
take around the temple on a palkhi on the day.
The shrine is decorated with lamps, lights, flowers, leaves
and sugarcane for the occasion.
Hundreds of people participate in the unique ritual. The
temple remains open during the entire day and different rituals take place.
Ekvira Devi Palkhi is observed on Chaitra Shukla Paksha Saptami
Tithi or the seventh day during the waxing phase of moon in Chaitra month as
per traditional Hindu lunar calendar followed in Maharashtra.
