Basaveshwar Yatra at Hitni in Gadhinglaj Taluka of Kolhapur District

Basaveshwar Yatra is annually observed in Chaitra month. It is the important fair and festival at the Basaveshwar Tempe here at Hitni in Gadhinglaj Taluka of Kolhapur District in Maharashtra. Basaveshwar, also known as Basavanna or Sri Basaveshwara, is the founder of Lingayatism or Lingayat Sect or Veerashaivism. Hitni Basaveshwar Yatra 2026 date is  March 24.

The annual yatra attracts hundreds of devotees to the village. It is an important event here. Special offerings and prayers are offered during the period.

Basaveshwar Yatra at Hitni is observed on Chaitra Shukla Paksha Sashti tithi or the sixth day during the waxing phase of moon in Chaitra month as per traditional Hindu lunar calendar followed in Maharashtra.
