Rasakalyani Tritiya Vrat is dedicated to Goddess Parvati. It
is performed on the shukla paksha tritiya or the third day during the waxing
phase of moon especially in Chaitra, Magh, Phalgun and Vaishakh months. It is
performed by both men and women for good luck, health, prosperity, emancipation
and everlasting joy.
The importance of this Vrata is mentioned in the Matsya
Purana.
After early morning bath and purification, one should offer
prayers to Ganesha.
Goddess Parvati is worshipped in the form of Gauri, Rudrani
and Soumya on the day with mantras, flowers, incense and Prasad (sweet).
Men wear yellow clothes, married women wear red clothes,
unmarried women wear white colored clothes, widows and widowers wear ochre
colored clothes on the day.
A single meal is taken on the day. Pujas are performed in
the morning and evening.
The fasting ends on next day morning.
If the Vrat is observed in Magh month then salt is
avoided on the day, if it is performed in Phalguna the sugar is avoided, if it
is performed in Chaitra then mustard is avoided and if it is performed in
Vaishakh month then honey and other sweets are avoided.
