Chottanikkara Utsavam – Chottanikkara Temple Annual Festival

Chottanikkara Temple is famous Shakti Shrine in Kerala and is located near Cochin and is about 20 km from Ernakulam Railway Station. The annual temple festival or Utsavam in the shrine is observed in Kumbham month. It also coincides with the Chottanikkara Makam Thozhal. 

The laksha deepam in the temple is held in Makaram month.

Several unique rituals and pujas are performed during the festival period. Traditional performing arts, music, songs and other cultural activities are held during the period. Caparisoned elephants, colorful processions and fireworks are other highlights. The festival ends with arattu on the final day.

The famous Makam Thozhal is held during the annual festival period.

The festival begins on Krittika Nakshatra day in Kumbha Month.

The annual Mudiyerru ritual is held in Meena Masam.
