Varudi Mata – About Goddess Varudi Mata

Varudi Mata is a goddess worshipped by Hindu communities in western parts of Gujarat and Rajasthan in India. The popular belief is that Varudi Mata resides in the stepwells or Vav and she is believed to be the goddess of fertility and is also worshipped for granting good crops. She is also referred as Vaduchi Ma.

She also resides on the coast of the sea or bank of a river or pond. Young couples after marriage to the goddess and offer prayers so that they might receive a boon of fertility.

She is also worshipped for healthy children and incident free pregnancy.

There are also several stories of Goddess Varudi Mata helping good kings and their army – especially by providing them with good food and clean water.
