birth anniversary of Sri Chand – founder of the Udasi sect or sampradaya. Sri

Udasi Sadhus practice the ways of Hinduism. They follow five Hindu gods known as pancha-devata, and perform rituals known
as panch prakarti puja or natural rituals encompassing the five elements of
water, fire, earth, air and sky.
Sri Chand was the son of Guru Nanak. The teachings of Udasi
sect or sampradaya is based on his writings.
Sri Chand Jayanti is annually observed on Bhadrapad Shukla
Paksha Navami tithi or the ninth day during the waxing phase of moon in Bhadrapad
month.
