Famous Hanuman Temple in Telangana – Kondagattu Anjaneya Swamy Temple

Kondagattu Anjaneya Swamy Temple is the most famous temple dedicated to Hanuman in Telangana. It is located at the beautiful town of Kondagattu in Karimnagar District. The temple is located atop a hillock and is around 35 km north of Karimnagar town.

The presiding deity worshipped in the temple is known as Anjaneya Swamy. Legend has it that a cowherd discovered the swamaybhu murti of Hanuman and he established the first shrine here, which was expanded later.



The cowherd had lost one of his buffalo and was searching for it the entire day. The tired cowherd sat near a stone and fell asleep. Anjaneya Swamy appeared in his dream and showed him the spot where his buffalo was standing. He woke up suddenly and looked around and found that he was sitting near the Anjaneya Swamy murti.

It is widely believed that those couple who do not have children will be blessed with one after offering prayers here for 40 days.

Apart from Hanuman, the temple also has murtis of Goddess Lakshmi and Venkateshwara.

41-day Hanuman deeksha which starts on Chaitra Purnima and culminates on Hanuman Jayanti is of great importance at the Shrine.

Tuesdays and Saturdays attract are the most important days in a week.
