Holiyamma – About Goddess Holiyamma

Holiyamma is a goddess in Hinduism. She is a village deity. It must be noted here that as per majority of the scholars, Holiyamma is one among the numerous names of Yellamma Goddess. But the term Holiyamma is widely used in Karnataka.

Her origin is similar to Goddess Yellamma.

She is mainly worshipped in rural areas. Her temples are usually found on the outskirts of a village. She is appeased sometimes by offering animals or birds.

Holiyamma is worshipped for early cure from diseases. She is also a fertility deity.
