Swapneshwar Mahadev is one among the numerous forms of Shiva. In this form He is the one who helps devotees overcome fear of bad dreams. Shiva in the form of Swapaneshwar is worshipped in the Ujjain Mahakaleshwar Temple complex. Information about this form of Shiva is found in the Skanda Purana.

Swapneshwar Mahadev is one of the 84 Mahadeva temples in the city of Ujjain.


The temple is located in the northwest direction of Mahakaleshwar Temple near the Sankatmochan Siddhadas Hanuman Temple.

According to Skanda Purana, prayers to Swapneshwar help one not to see evil dreams.

In a fortnight, the eighth (Ashtami tithi) and fourteenth (Chaturdasi tithi) day are dedicated to the worship of Swapneshwar Mahadev.
