Santaji Maharaj Jagnade (1624 - 1688) was a follower of Sant Tukaram and
he recorded numerous Abhangs or poems of Sant Tukaram Maharaj. Punyatithi is
the death anniversary of the pious soul and is annually observed in Margashirsh
month. Santaji Maharaj Jagnade Punyatithi 2024 date is December 28.
Santaji Jagnade Maharaj showed keen interest in bhajans and
kirtans. He showed little interest in materialistic life. Soon he became a
follower of Sant Tukaram Maharaj. He followed him like a shadow and it is
through him that we got to learn much about the Abhangs of Sant Tukaram.
Santaji was the original write of Tukaram Gatha. He
carefully noted down all the wise sayings of the great saint.
Santaji Maharaj Jagnade Punyatithi is observed annually on
the Margashirsh Krishna Paksha Trayodasi tithi or the thirteenth day during the
waning phase of moon in Margashirsh month as per traditional Hindu calendar
followed in Maharashtra .
