Khandoba Yatra at Bahiram in Amravati in Maharashtra – Khandobachi Yatra at Bahiram in Amravati

Khandoba Yatra is annually held during the Margashirsh month at Bahiram in Amravati near Maharashtra. It is dedicated to Khandoba, a manifestation of Shiva. Khandobachi Yatra 2024 begins on December 7.

The pilgrimage is undertaken to a hill shrine dedicated to Khandoba.

Apart from the puja and rituals, a grand fair is held during the period. The main attraction here is the food cooked especially non-vegetarian food. The food is cooked in clay pots using wood from the region in the open.

Large number of devotees from nearby regions arrive for the annual festival in the Margashirsh month (December - January).

A month long fair is held during the period.

Khandoba Yatra is observed yearly on Margashirsha Shukla Paksha Sashti Tithi or the sixth  day during the waxing phase of moon in Margashirsh month as per traditional Hindu lunar calendar followed in Maharashtra. The festival continues for a month.
