Ekanamsha – About Goddess Ekanamsha

Goddess Ekanamsha is believed to a manifestation of Goddess Durga. Today she is more popularly associated with Bhagvan Sri Krishna and his elder brother Balarama. Thus Ekanamsha is Subhadra, sister of Sri Krishna.


Ekanamsha is usually depicted as standing between Balarama and Sri Krishna. She holds either a lotus or a mirror.

As per Brihat Samhita, the Goddess can be depicted with two, four or eight arms.

In some scriptures she is closely identified with Goddess Katyayani.

The worship of Ekanamsha is more popular in eastern parts of India and is associated with Jagannath cult.
