The temple is located on the banks of Bhavani  River 
The temple has murtis of Bheemasen of Maharabharata and
Pagasooran, a demon who was defeated by Bhimasen with the blessings of
Vanabadrakaliamman.
The subsidiary deities in the temple include Nagas and
various local deities. Special pujas are held in the temple for early marriage
and health children. Various types of rakshas are worn after blessing from the
deity for protection from witch craft and also for good business.
The most important festival and rituals in the temple are
observed during the Tuesdays in Aadi Month. 
An important ritual in the temple is fire walking – running
through hot coal bed. This is known as Aadi Gundam and is observed in Aadi
month.
