Gunaseelam Temple – Sri Prasanna Venkatachalapathi Temple in Gunaseelam - Perumal Temple near Trichy

Sri Prasanna Venkatachalapathi Temple is popularly known as the Gunaseelam Temple or Perumal Temple and is located near Trichy in Tamil Nadu. The temple is dedicated to Vishnu. The murti worshipped in the temple is known as Sri Perumal. Goddess Lakshmi is worshipped here as Sri Ubaya Nachiar.



An important ritual in the temple is the Garuda Seva.

The subsidiary deities in the temple are sculpted on the flag post and deepa stambha. Among them the noteworthy murtis are that of Hanuman, various forms of Krishna, Varaha and Narasimha.

The temple has a separate shrine dedicated to Vikanasar who introduced the Vaikanasa Agama.

It is widely believed that those suffering from mental illness get relief after praying at the temple.

Gunaseelam Temple is maintained by a private management.

The most important festival in the temple is the Navratri Brahmotsavam held during September – October.
