Goddess Vedavalli is a manifestation of Goddess Lakshmi and
she is the consort of Bhagvan Srihari Vishnu in numerous temples in Tamil Nadu.
Legend has it that Goddess Lakshmi was found in a lily flower in a pond near
the famous Triplicane
Parthasarathy Temple
by Sage Bhrigu.
Sage Bhrigu took the child and named her Vedavalli. The sage
realized the divinity the girl and raised her has his own child.
When she became a woman, Vishnu appeared before her as a
suitor and the divine couple was happily united.
The celestial wedding of Bhagvan Vishnu and Goddess
Vedavalli is annually held in the Tamil month of Maasi (February – March) at
the famous Triplicane
Parthasarathy Temple .
