Vibhuti Dwadasi Vrat Dedicated to Bhagvan Vishnu

Vibhuti Dwadasi Vrat is observed for getting the blessings of Bhagvan Vishnu. It is observed on the Shukla Paksha Dwadasi day in the months of Vaishakh, Kartik, Margashirsh and Phalgun as per Hindu calendar followed in North India.

The Vrat begins on Shukla Paksha Dasami or the tenth day during the waxing phase of moon. On the day pure vegetarian food is eaten.

Complete fasting is observed on Shukla Paksha Ekadasi or the eleventh day during the waxing phase of moon. Grains are totally avoided. One can have fruits.

The vrat ends on Shukla Paksha Dwadasi day or the twelfth day during the waxing phase of moon. On the day morning after prayers, one has to perform annadanam or food donation.

Person performing the vrat should read Srimad Bhagavad Purana, Vishnu Purana or Bhagavad Gita on all three days.
