Veda Vrat Dedicated to Vedas – Chatur Ved Vrat

Veda Vrat is dedicated to Vedas – the four Vedas (Chatur Ved). The rituals associated with this Vrat begin in the Chaitra Month. Veda Vrat 2024 beginning date is March 26 – the first day of Chaitra Month as per traditional Hindu calendar followed in North India.

Rig Veda is read or heard during Chaitra, Vaishakh and Jyeshta months.

Yajur veda is read or heard during Ashada, Shravan and Bhadrapad months.

Sama Veda is read or heard during Ashwin, Kartik and Margashirsh months.

Atharva Veda is read or heard during Paush, Magh and Phalgun months.

After completion of each Veda the devotee should perform food donation.

The popular belief is that performing the Veda Vrat will help in attaining moksha while living on earth.

Some people observe the vrat for 12 years.

During the vrat period only vegetarian food is eaten. Alcohol, smoking and other such bad habits should be completely avoided.

Sex with wife is allowed during the period.

You can offer prayers to your personal deity for a year daily.
