Lohaja Lingas – Shivling Made of Metals

Lohaja Lingas are Shivling made of metals. They form part of Chala Lingas or lingas that are moveable. Lohaja lingas can be made of eight metals. They are gold, silver, copper, bell-metal, iron, lead, brass and tin.

Shivling made of metals are worshipped in home. They are small in size. The most popular is the Shivling made of brass.

Lohaja Lingas are worshipped in the subsidiary shrines in many temples dedicated to Ganesha, Devi, Muruga and Vishnu.

Impure metals or combination of two metals should not be used to prepare Lohaja Lingas.
