Kanakagiri Kanaka Chalapathi Temple – Kanakagiri Lakshmi Narasimha Temple in Karnataka


Kanakagiri Kanaka Chalapathi Temple is located at Kanakagiri in Karnataka and is dedicated to Lakshmi Narasimha. The temple is around 22 km from Gangavati Town. Narasimha form of Bhagvan Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi are separately worshipped in the temple. The combined form of Lakshmi and Narasimha worshipped in the temple is in Shaligram form.

Kanakagiri Kanaka Chalapathi Temple is famous for its architecture and a gigantic chariot. The temple is a classic example of Vijayanagar architecture. The temple is surrounded with an outer enclosure the prakara of the size 208 x 90 feet accommodates over 10,000 people to congregate at one place. The huge hall of 54 feet length and 36 feet width is decorated with lion faced pillars.

The huge chariot in the temple known as Kanakaraya Ratha has 6 wheels and each wheel has 9 feet circumference.
