Aranya Devi Temple Arrah in Bihar
is dedicated to Aranya Devi – Goddess of Forest. The temple is located at Ara (Arrah) in Bihar and is located
around 49 km from Patna .
Ara town area got its name from Goddess Aranya Devi.
Mother Goddess Shakti is worshipped here as Aranya Devi –
Goddess of Forest. The temple is one of the Siddhapeetha in the country. The
popular belief is that the murti worshipped in temple was consecrated by
Yudhishtira, the eldest of the Pandavas.
The main temple
of Aranya Devi is located
in the middle of a big Verandah. On the right side of the main temple is a
shrine dedicated to Radha and Krishna . On the
left side there is a shrine dedicated to Sri Ram, Mata Sita, Lakshman, Bharata,
Shatrughna and Hanuman.
In the courtyard of the temple there are four Shivlings. On
Mondays and Pradosh Vrat dates, devotees offer water to the Shivling.
The popular belief is that childless couple will be blessed
with children after worship in the Aranya
Devi Temple .
Devotees who desire for children are given two flowers. One flower has to be
eaten as Prasad. The other flower is to be kept at puja room and to be returned
to the temple when the couple is blessed with a child.
Navratri, Ram Navami and Shivratri are the most important
festival in the temple.
The temple is open from 6:00 AM to 8:00 PM
