Legend has it that Shiva who did not want to give darshan to
Pandavas after the Mahabharata war hid at the present Vishwanath Temple .
A unique aspect of the Vishwanath Temple
is that it has a subsidiary shrine dedicated to Ardhnarishwar. It is situated
on the side of the main temple. The murti worshipped is a combined form of
Shiva and Goddess Parvati.
A holy water body is located in the vicinity of the shrine
and is fed by two streams – Gaumukh and Gajamukh.
