Shyam Baba Dwadasi

Shyambaba Dwadasi is associated with the Khatu Shyam or Barbareek, the powerful grandson of Bhima and son of Ghatotkacha in the Mahabharata. Shyam Baba Dwadasi is observed on all Shukla Paksha Dwadasi or 12th day during the waxing phase of moon. The most important ritual on the day is held at the Khatu Shyam Temple at Sikar in Rajasthan.

Shyambaba Dwadasi is observed annually on the Phalgun Shukla Paksha Dwadasi or the 12th day during waxing phase of moon in Phalgun month.

The day is of great importance to many Hindu communities in North India. Temples associated with Khatu Shyam or Barbareek hold special rituals and prayers.
