Charanamrit – Holy water offered in Hindu Temples To Devotees

Charanamrit is the holy water offered in Hindu temples to devotees. Charanamrit is the water that is used to wash the feet and body of the deity installed in the temple. The water that flows out from the murti is collected and offered to devotees.

Some people believe that the water thus collected is energized as it passes through the murti.

The water that is collected in Vishnu temples contains Tulsi or basil leaves and this adds to the medicinal properties.

Similarly the water that is collected after bathing Shivling contains bilva leaf properties.

In most temples, charanamrit is collected in copper or bronze vessels and this adds to the medicinal properties.
