Chikhal Kalo is observed a day after Sri Krishna Jayanti (Gokulashtami or Krishna Janmashtami) in Goa . In 2025, the date of Chikhal Kalo is August 16. Gokulashtami in Goa is on August 15. It is similar to Dahi Handi observed in neighboring Maharashtra . On the day young boys and girls form human pyramids to break open the Kalo pots hung high above.
