Guruvara Ekadashi

Guruvara Ekadasi is the Ekadashi fasting observed on Thursday or Guruvar. This is of great significance to some Hindu communities in South India as Thursday is dedicated to Srihari Vishnu.

Ekadashi fasting is observed on the 11th day of the lunar fortnight as per Hindu traditional calendar. The fast is considered highly meritorious and is observed for attaining earthly fame, wealth and moksha.

Ekadashi on Thursday makes it doubly auspicious for some Hindu communities. Apart from prayers and fasting, people also donate food and clothes to the poor on the day.
