The festival in Kullu is associated with the Raghunath Temple. The murti worshipped in the temple – Sri Ram – is brought out on a chariot. The 40-day festival is in commemoration of the bringing of the murti of Sri Ram from Ayodhya in 1660 AD. The murti is installed at the famous Raghunath Temple at Sultanpur in Kullu.

The murti of Sri Ram will be bathed in colors for 40 days. The festival will culminate on the Holi day.
