Til Dwadashi – Importance Of Tila Dwadasi

Til Dwadashi, also referred as Tila Dvadasi, is observed on the 12th day of the Krishna Paksha or waning phase of moon in Magh Month as per traditional Hindu calendar followed in certain parts of North India especially in Madhya Pradesh. Til Dwadashi 2025 date is January 26. The vrat is dedicated to Sri Krishna. Til is Sesame seeds and people make offering of Til in sacrificial fire and also donate it.

Please note that Til Dwadasi is also observed during 12th day of the Shukla Paksha or waxing phase of moon in Magh Month. This date is February 9, 2025.  

It is widely believed that donating Til on Tila Dwadasi day is highly meritorious.


Til Dwadasi is observed the day after Shattila Ekadasi, which is also dedicated to Til.


Til or Sesame is widely used during winter season in North and Western parts of India to overcome the intense cold condition. 

Delicacies made of sesame seeds like Til Vadi, Til Ladoo and other dishes are widely consumed in cold weather as they keep your body warm for long periods of time. They are also rich in Vitamin E and antioxidants, which keeps hair and skin healthy and moisturized during winters.
