Sheetala Sashti is observed on the sixth day of Shukla Paksha or waxing phase of moon in Magha month especially in Bengal and eastern parts of India . Sheetala Sashti 2025 date is February 3 and is dedicated to Goddess Shitala. This ritual is observed by those couples who wish to have a child.
On the day puja involving 16 steps or Shodashopachara is performed. Cold food items are offered to Goddess Shitala.
The food that is consumed by those observing the ritual is prepared the previous day.
Please note that pujas dedicated to Goddess Sheetala are observed on Shukla Paksha Sashti, Saptami and Ashtami (sixth, seventh, and eighth day of waxing phase of moon) in Magh, Chaitra, Vaishakh, Jyeshta, Ashada and Shravan months.
